Oxygen Dec 2007 Prayer Letter

The 2007 prayer letter, written by the GAP Team, aims to keep you up to date with what is happening in the different areas around the Borough where Oxygen is working. We hope that it inspires you to continue to pray for us and for the work amongst young people.

New Rm1 Members

Letters have recently been sent ut to selected young people who have been identified by the school or Rm1 staff as being someone who might particularly benefit from to club. Please pray that these would be well received and that Rm1 would gain extra members as a result.

What did you mean when you said I was special?

The week before two of the TGS volunteers were talking with one of the girls and mentioned that they’d only said what they’d said because ‘you’re special to me and I don’t want to see you get hurt’

The next week she brought this up again, asking what they had meant, and why they’d said it. It’s sad to think that so many of the youth that we work with aren’t valued and made to feel special at home, but it’s great that at places like TGS we can work with small groups of girls to build up self esteem and show them that we value them.

Please pray that we do have more opportunities with the girls to show them just how much God values each and every one of them

the best brithday ever at rm1

It was one of the boy's birthdays at rm1 last week and he said a few times over the evening how it was his 'best birthday ever!'

We cooked fairy cakes and iced and decorated them, played pool and the wii and he told us that it was really good to be with his friends (three of us volunteers and the one other boy that was there that Thursday). We had the chance to chat (brought up by the boy's) about what 'religion' is as well as having a 'religion competion!' again started by the boys-- 'im most religious cus i sing in the church choir' and 'phils most religious cus he's wearing a delirious jumper' , which resulted in one of the other boys getting down on his knees and saying look i win, im praying!

Anyway- it as a fun evening and we got a chance to share a bit of us with the boys underneath all the jokes and its cool that the boys do enjoy being along side us so much and participating in the activities that we are able to provide for them at rm1.

Who Killed Santa Claus?

Embedded Video

Can I invite you this Saturday to Who Killed Santa Claus, a Murder Mystery party when together with your table team mates you will observe a short Christmas Play where someone will inevitably kill Santa Claus. Over the course of the evening, accompanied by a Christmas themed Fish and Chip Supper you will have a chance to interview the various characters before having to make your guess as to what and how and by whom was the crime committed!?
