Urban Nites and Days
Urban Nites in Surbiton becomes urban days in the next couple of weeks when a group of young people and local church volunteers, coordinated by Oxygen’s new senior Youth Worker Debbie Garden go away on a residential weekend away to Lambourne End, Essex. This weekend, the first residential that Urban Nites has run marks one more the way in which the work on the Alpha Estate has progressed and developed in significant ways in the 18 months since the work was started.
Starting on Wednesday evenings, in late 2005 Urban Nites Surbiton has now expanded to include a going deeper Bible Study on Thursday evenings. Here a number of young people who have got to know and learnt to trust the Oxygen and local church workers have felt confident enough to start to discover and follow Jesus supported by the Gap year team. The forthcoming residential to Lambroune End plans to develop this during the days they are there by
building on the established relationships and creating space to support and challenge the young people through physical, spiritual and mental activities.
Please pray for Urban Nites Surbiton, especially
-
For Safety and a good time away for the young people on the residential, and for strength and wisdom for the leaders who are taking them
-
For local people to be involved in the running on the Bible Study on Thursdays, at present this is run by Oxygen Gap year workers who could leave within the next few months. Pray for wisdom in developing and deepening this group and not least the faith of the young people who come along to it
-
For the ongoing work of seeing young people come to discover and follow Jesus from across the Alpha Estate, Surbiton and the Borough of Kingston
