Do you have young people in your church that are looking for an adventure to embark upon this summer? Would they like to try something a bit different and stretch themselves?
Josh Talbot works for release:potential , the youth initiative from Release International. Release International raises awareness of the persecution of Christians around the world.
release:potential has been created to equip UK youth to take action on behalf of their persecuted brothers and sisters by providing resources, running events and supplying information on what is really happening to our wider reaching Christian family.
We are excited about getting young people involved with social justice issues and we have come up with an exciting summer challenge that will help to raise awareness for persecuted Christians as well as providing a unique experience for young people. And we’d love you to be a part of it…
Between 24th – 27th July 2009 release:potential embarks on a sailing challenge with a crew of ten young people. They will set sail in a 62ft Ketch from Gosport and sail to the Channel Islands (and back again!), under the watchful eye of a fully qualified skipper and first mate.
No sailing experience necessary, but requirements are that each crew member must be up for a challenge and ready for a lot of laughter, sunshine, galley cooked food and water. Lots of water!
The aim is to raise funds for the persecuted Church so the young people will need to pay for their trip (£250, including insurance) and then raise sponsorship from friends, family and their church.
If you have youth who are interested and would like to get involved then please contact Josh on 020 8781 1731 or email me at jtalbot@releaseinternational.org
