Throughout the second half of the Christmas Term 2008, Oxygen conducted a review amongst Borough wide Christian youthworkers (both full time and voluntarily). The aim was to assess the need and details of thecalling Oxygen’s youth worship event.
The results are as follows
1. 90% of those questioned, wanted a youth event for the Christian young people of the churches in the Borough
2. 60% wanted this to take place on early Sunday evenings, 30% on Fridays, 20%, 10% on Saturdays and the rest spread throughout the week
3. 80% wanted it to take place once a term, the rest
4. 50% wanted it focused on 13-16s, 40% on 11-13s and 10% on16s +
5. 80% wanted it taking place in one venue
6. It should primarily focus on worship and creating chances for young people to socialise
7. The best way to let workers and young people know about it is through Facebook and email
Finally people were questioned on whether Oxygen workers should be made available to support work in local churches.. The overwhelming response to this question was that Oxygen should concentrate on work outside the church, whilst visiting church youth groups once or twice a year, contributing to what takes place.
