Springs Dance Company Presents ‘Journey of the Magi’

Springs Dance Company Presents ‘Journey of the Magi’

Springs Dance Company (SDC) is Europe's foremost professional Christian dance company. Dancers of Springs have graduated from internationally recognised professional training courses, such as those offered by Laban, London Contemporary, Rambert and the Royal Ballet School.
The performances of SDC explore faith and life issues through a variety of contemporary dance styles and theatre. The high quality, dynamic performances are designed to entertain, refresh and challenge audiences from all kinds of backgrounds with work that is both touching and relevant.

SDC is touring this Advent with their Christmas production ‘Journey of the Magi’ inspired by T.S.Eliot’s poem of the same name. It is an evening of colourful and dramatic dance, music, theatre and poetry. Audiences reflect on not only the famous journey the wise men made following the star to Jesus, but also the ‘journey’ each of us makes every year in preparing for Christmas Day. Through exploring images in the poetry, SDC have devised a presentation of some of the all too familiar processes we go through and witness, in dealing with the expectations and realities of the festive season. The show not only entertains but also provokes consideration for change.

‘Journey of the Magi’ has been toured since 1997 and is enjoyed by adults and children alike. The show has proved to be one of SDC’s most popular productions and is an excellent introduction to those who may be new to dance.

Audience impressions of ‘Journey of the Magi’

“We loved .Journey of the Magi’. I find scenes still coming to me in flashbacks, causing me to laugh or ponder the message you were conveying.

“I’ve heard lots of positive, appreciative comments. A brilliant evening! Superbly professional and the production is beautifully crafted.”

“You refreshed me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually in a way that I haven’t felt for years.”
